The incumbent serves as a Social Media Strategist within the Digital Communications team and reports to the Staff Director, Digital Communications in the Office of Public Affairs.

The Social Media Strategist is responsible for developing and implementing the Bureau’s social media strategy across all platforms.

Responsibilities:

As a Public Affairs Specialist (Social Media Strategist), you will:

  • In consultation with Subject Matter Experts and senior Public Affairs staff, develop Bureau social media strategy across all platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
  • Collaborate regularly with agency leaders and staff members in relevant Bureau program offices to identify program needs and opportunities for social media engagement.
  • Develop social media content in consultation with subject matter experts.
  • Monitor Bureau social media accounts and respond to and moderate comments as necessary. Report any significant trends in comments or engagements to appropriate staff. Post content as needed including possibly during evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary based on business need.
  • Develop metrics and other measures to assess effectiveness of social media engagements. Report on these metrics and overall social media effectiveness to Public Affairs leadership as well as key staff in relevant program areas.

Travel Required

  • Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position.
