The Center for California Studies is located at Sacramento State – the “Capital Campus” of the California State University system.

This strategic location positions the Center as a link between the University and the three branches of California’s government, think tanks, other universities, and outside partnerships involved with public service in California. The Center’s mission is to bridge academia and government to strengthen California’s democracy through research, academic programming, and collaboration.

Position Summary:

The Senior Outreach, Marketing, and Social Media Specialist is a leadership position responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the Center’s annual nationwide outreach activities. Additionally, the role involves developing and executing communications and social media strategies for the Capital Fellows Program.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading digital marketing and social media strategies and campaigns.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering presentations for diverse groups, including students, faculty, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in administrative survey techniques, data management, and interpretation.
  • Ability to cultivate and manage positive relationships with internal and external entities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Extensive computer skills and proficiency in relevant social media platforms, MS Office applications (especially Access and Excel).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and the ability to implement them in the role.
  • Willingness and availability for travel as needed.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent and direct work experience with fellowship and/or intern programs.
  • Experience with marketing strategies and campaigns focused on under-served populations.
