The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is seeking a Social Media Specialist to develop and maintain a strong, positive web identity for WCSD aligned with the District’s vision, mission, and core beliefs.

In this role, you will manage WCSD’s social media sites, implement search engine optimization strategies, and engage in district-level video production.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Manage WCSD social media sites, including content creation, posting schedules, and response to online interactions.
• Develop and implement effective search engine optimization strategies.
• Monitor and respond to online posts, blogs, and conversations related to WCSD.
• Provide training to internal staff on social media best practices.
• Write news releases and media advisories.
• Produce district-level videos, including scripting, filming, and editing.
• Collaborate with the Superintendent on district-level projects involving social media tools and video production.

Employment Standards:

• Bachelor’s degree in a health/business field or related area.
• Three (3) years of experience in progressive marketing and communications roles.
• Proficiency in social media platforms and SEO strategies.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with video production equipment and editing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Salary and Benefits:

• The full-time salary range for this position is $23.73 (entry step) to $28.08 (entry step) per hour.
• Salaries may increase or decrease each fiscal year.
• This is a 40-hour per week, 260-day position.
• Eligible employees receive various benefits, including Social Security, PERS retirement benefits, and medical, dental, and vision insurance, depending on the hours worked.
