We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Specialist at UL Standards & Engagement based in our Washington DC office.

The Social Media Specialist will support the organization’s communications strategy and drive execution of engagement initiatives to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable.

The Social Media Specialist will represent the voice of the organization on social platforms and engage with audiences including current and future partners, stakeholders, ULSE Technical Committees and leadership across LinkedIn, Twitter, and other relevant social channels.

As the Social Media Specialist, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you

  • Serve as central point of contact for social media activities, ensuring consistent messaging across social platforms.
  • Work with internal communications team to create evergreen and campaign-specific content that promotes ULSE safety standards and initiatives.
  • Conceptualize, create, and post social media content to drive brand awareness, including writing captions and comments in the ULSE voice.
  • Design brand-aligned visuals using in-house creative studio, Canva or other web-based design tools.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to discover, curate, and share compelling stories and amplify content across various social media platforms.
  • Manage digital promotion efforts, including paid campaigns, community growth, influencer collaboration, and partner amplification efforts.
  • Set key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as target numbers for engagement rate, follower growth, impressions, likes, and shares and report on campaign performance.
  • Monitor vital metrics and data, surface insights, and report monthly on growth and performance across ULSE’s social channels.
  • Serve as steward and promoter of ULSE brand, ensure communications across internal and external platforms accurately reflect the organization’s values, mission, and identity.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, and best practices in social media marketing to enhance the effectiveness and innovation of ULSE’s social media strategy.
  • Contribute to and/or lead department initiatives.

  • High degree of curiosity to learn about the mission and impact of the organization and its areas of specialization.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media, communications, or public relations role.
  • Direct experience managing social media platforms and running paid digital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Meltwater, Sprinklr or other media monitoring services to track analytics.
