Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Social Media Manager to oversee its social media channels with the goal of strengthening the cancer center’s reputation and promoting its services.

The ideal candidate should be a highly creative and motivated social media strategist with a demonstrated history of developing effective campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, and drive target audiences to action. This role will contribute to elevating Sylvester’s social media presence.

Core Job Functions:

  • Develop and edit print and online advertising and email marketing.
  • Oversee website management and content development.
  • Monitor the content of all press releases and other internal and external communications.
  • Engage in marketing budget development and cost tracking.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and/or speeches geared towards employees.
  • Provide supervision and direction to staff and collaborate with the marketing department.
  • Correspond with employees and external stakeholders regarding organizational developments.
  • Create strategies to increase employee awareness and promote productivity.
  • Act as a liaison to and maintain positive relationships with the media and other interested parties.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Core Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business, marketing, or communications.
  • Experience: 4-5 years of relevant healthcare experience, preferably in the cancer field.

Department Specific Functions:

  • Oversee the development of Sylvester’s social playbook and keep it up to date.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies for various platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and YouTube.
  • Create social calendars and content optimized for search, working in partnership with designers and video producers.
  • Schedule content through a scheduling platform.
  • Conduct community management, responding to and escalating issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct social listening and proactively identify cancer and cultural opportunities to engage in social conversation.
  • Manage organic boosting budget and execute against it.
  • Analyze social data and optimize content.
  • Conduct market and competitive intelligence.
  • Oversee live coverage of relevant scientific conferences and other events.
  • Measure the success of social media campaigns across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Marketing & Communications team to manage reputation and drive related marketing efforts.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience working in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience with tools and platforms like Loomly, Adobe Photoshop, MS Suite, Meta Ads Manager, and Google Analytics.
