Advocate Health’s Brand, Consumer Experience and Communications Department is seeking candidates for their Social Media Internship program.

To be eligible, a requirement is that one must be pursuing a degree or has completed their degree in communications, digital communications, public relations, marketing and/or digital and multimedia communications and have an interest in gaining interdisciplinary experience in a health care setting. Social media experience is a plus. This internship is primarily remote with some opportunities for in person gatherings and projects.

Social Media Internship Overview

Advocate Health’s Social Media Internship allows students to gain experience working alongside social media professionals managing the 3rd largest non-for-profit’s social media presence. Interns will be able to gain valuable and marketable experience in the social media field.

Responsibilities Include

• Produce social media posts for Facebook and Instagram including graphics, written content, videos, etc.
• Monitor social media activity on brand accounts, including reviews, messages, comments, etc.
• Design graphics for Facebook and Instagram including infographics for social media platforms.
• Assist with social and digital marketing campaign initiatives.
• Boost writing and editorial skills by assisting on a variety of external communications initiatives.
• Enhance business acumen by building relationships with administrative managers, directors and other department members.
• Assist with ideation of social media initiatives.
• Potential to go on-site for social media events, promotions and partnership activations (pending remote work policy).

Qualifications

• Passion for social media, marketing, writing and health care
• College/university junior or senior, or recent graduate, obtaining BA/BS/MBA in public relations, marketing, journalism/mass communications or equivalent area of focus
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Self-motivated and effective task manager
• High level of creativity and ability to think outside of the box
• Ability to work independently and think critically
• Organized and detail oriented
• Access to reliable transportation
• Knowledge of social media and marketing strategies, journalism or media relations preferred

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Each department will develop mental/physical requirements from the job standards and guidelines.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
