The Social Media Intern would support the Social Media Specialist’s duties of operating Komatsu’s global and regional social media channels. This will include assisting with content creation, gathering metrics, community management support and social calendar management support. This role will aid the growth and management of the company’s social media channels, as well as support implementation of campaigns and content to support business goals. The position would be responsible for the overall assistance in social management, campaigns, metrics and other duties as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the social media specialist to create, edit, publish and share a wide variety of content on all platforms that builds meaningful connections and improves customer engagement Engage with followers and potential customers through the company’s social channels to ensure growth of our channels and consistent engagement with our audiences, enhancing Komatsu’s brand
  • Perform social media marketing research, keeping up with current trends to share new ways to engage with our audiences
  • Use analytical tools to monitor and evaluate social media presence and performance to assist in continuous improvement
  • Communicate with the social media audience, joining relevant conversations on behalf of the brand, helping convert brand fans into loyal customers with engaging, responsive, captivating interactions
  • Support social channel audits or updates, while maintaining brand voice and look consistently across channels and platforms, while demonstrating the ideal tone for each

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • Experience in communications, marketing, or a related role
  • Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and the desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills; ability to learn and adhere to Komatsu brand standards and marketing practices
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines
  • Able to balance multiple priorities
  • Experienced in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Naturally collaborative in small and large teams; Can also work independently and confidently without continuous oversight
  • Outgoing, curious, creative, ambitious and passionate about people, organizational culture and engagement
  • Ability to work well and quickly under pressure both individually and as a part of a team
