The Director of Social Media will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s social media strategy while ensuring the creation of captivating content, analyzing performance metrics, and cultivating engaged online communities across all digital platforms. This position, as part of the Corporate Communications team, will support the organization’s key strategies and brand initiatives, provide guidance on potential issues, and incorporate modern storytelling techniques into all company communications while maintaining a digital mindset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies that enable social media to effectively illustrate Generac’s enterprise strategy to Power A Smarter World and bring the company’s culture, priorities, and products to life across key stakeholders.
  • Create engaging and high-quality content that resonates with key stakeholders.
  • Perform against key metrics including growing reach, engagement, and impact across all Generac’s social media platforms.
  • Analyze social media data and metrics to measure effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with other departments (e.g., marketing, sales, customer service) to create and maintain a content calendar, ensure brand consistency and alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Partner closely with Generac’s Customer Experience team to assist with customer engagement and questions via social channels.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop executive social media plans that aid in amplifying the company’s story.
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends and best practices, adapting the company’s strategy to leverage new opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to other business units managing social media channels.
  • Provide counsel, support and scenario planning on social response strategies to manage issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Design and direct the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved. Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or applicable degree.
  • 10 years of experience managing social media platforms and strategy, preferably in a corporate or large organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing effective social media strategies that drive reach, engagement, and impact across business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of major social media platforms and their functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional content creation skills, with the ability to craft engaging and persuasive copy, visuals, and videos.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and multimedia communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
