The National Desk, a part of Sinclair Broadcast Group, is in search of a social media engagement specialist to promote content across the Sinclair Broadcast Group’s network of stations, including their national news brands.

The ideal candidate should be a social media expert with a strong grasp of trends, social media copywriting, and news content branding. This role will play a pivotal part in leading the social media efforts for the team of journalists working diligently to write and share stories from across the country.

Qualifications:

• Profound experience in publishing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Expertise in handling breaking news.
• Understanding of how video content circulates on the internet.
• Knowledge of LIVE video feeds.
• Exceptional at creating ‘shareable’ content.
• Content Management System (CMS) knowledge.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work in a flexible “LIVE breaking news” environment.
• Proficiency in AP Style.
• Video editing skills.
• 3-5 years of newsroom experience.
• 2-3 years of experience managing newsroom social media accounts.
• Ability to adapt to the ever-changing news and multi-platform landscape.

• Initiative to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong attention to detail, project management, organization, and time management skills.
• A passion for teamwork and customer service, capable of following direction while also working independently to manage workflow and projects.
• Leadership skills to guide others in social media practices and encourage non-social users to embrace effective engagement techniques.
• Ability to collaborate with various levels of the station and work alongside corporate social media counterparts to align station initiatives with Sinclair’s expectations.
