Our Senior Manager, Social Media is a “player/coach” who will lead our small but mighty social media team and guide our social strategy, while also creating content themselves.

This individual will use their creativity and deep knowledge of current social media platforms to help the Center take their social media program to the next level. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful people manager who has a proven track record of building and managing content calendars, creative campaigns, and cross-departmental relationships.

We’re looking for a strategic, solutions-oriented problem solver who has outstanding writing, proofreading and fact-checking skills and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The person in this role will work with global colleagues across departments to produce content for all the Center’s social media platforms and contribute to the strategic efforts of the digital team and communications department.

The role will be based in our New York City office in a hybrid model of 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home. Covid-19 Vaccination is required for all U.S.-based employees of the Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Guide the Center’s social media strategy, and lead the social team to create content, calendars, and campaigns that advance the Center’s key priorities.
  • Ensure all platforms have a consistent and coherent voice that articulates the mission and unique perspective of the organization.
  • Manage the fact-checking and approvals process for all social media content across departments. Approve all posts for all platforms before they go live.
  • Measure impact. Work with the social team to collect and analyze performance data, and use your learnings to optimize future content. Actively investigate ways to improve organic reach and engagement on all social media platforms.
  • Lead rapid response efforts on social media with guidance from the Digital Director.
  • Maintain fluency in digital content best practices and stay abreast of emerging trends.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-departmental relationships that enable the social team to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the globe.
  • Create a supportive social media team culture, and provide thoughtful, hands-on management and coaching to two direct reports: a social media campaigner and a digital video producer.
  • Liaise with graphic designers to create assets that reinforce brand guidelines and support social media engagement.
  • Advise on paid digital strategies.
  • Generate strategies for identifying and working with influencers
  • Assist with other digital team and communications department responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including 6+ years of experience managing the social media presence of high-profile organizations or brands with a demonstrated ability to grow audiences and increase engagement. Nonprofit and/or issue campaign experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record as a dependable, supportive people manager
  • Comprehensive understanding of the social media landscape. Demonstrated creativity in developing innovative social media strategies and producing compelling social media content that moves audiences
  • Fluency with social media performance data; Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to optimize future content and campaigns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding proofing and editing abilities
  • Ability to work independently, successfully manage competing priorities, and deliver high quality content in a fast-paced environment with rigorous standards
  • High comfort level with soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders and incorporating it into your work
