Job Description Summary

With evolved maturity and a multi-dimensional approach, Social Media has become a critical component of brand building, reputational management, customer experience, social selling, community management, and associate advocacy at Nationwide.

As the AVP for Social Media, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the social media strategy for Nationwide. You’ll need to be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and analytics. You will lead a team responsible for creating and implementing engaging content, driving brand awareness, and fostering meaningful connections with our audiences across various social media channels. You’ll also need to build trusted partnerships with key stakeholders across Marketing and the enterprise at large to deliver best-in-class business outcomes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive enterprise social media strategy (B2B and B2C) aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives of protecting the Nationwide brand, fueling business growth, building deep intermediary partnerships and reinforcing customer retention.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously enhance the social media program.
  • Oversee the creation, curation, and publishing of high-quality and engaging content that is tailored to each platform and resonates with target audiences, while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Collaborates closely with internal teams, including marketing and business units to build effective go-to-market social media programs driven by strong content and amplification strategies. Integrate and execute plans with strategic partners across Brand; Property & Casualty (P&C) and Nationwide Financial (NF) Marketing; Sponsorships; Diverse Marketing, HR, Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Communications.
  • Lead oversight of social media governance for the enterprise with key senior stakeholders. Maintain documentation, enforce processes and complete due diligence for requests. Educate and inform continuously at the executive and associate levels.
  • Perform as a trusted center of excellence with a test and learn mentality that executes with precision.
  • Lead influencer marketing strategy for the enterprise including the evaluation of partners and tactical execution as needed.
  • Effectively partner and manage a variety of external agency partners to develop strategy, content and recommendations.
  • Oversees associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day managing, hiring and placement and overall team engagement to build a best-in-class culture.

May Perform Other Responsibilities As Assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to SVP, Marketing Content & Delivery. Leads a team of approximately 12-15 associates that includes 4 directs.

Typical Skills And Experiences

Education: Bachelors Degree in Digital Marketing or Marketing; MBA preferred.

Experience: Typically, ten or more years of digital experience with a minimum of five years managing Social Media channels for a brand or organization.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong understanding of foundational marketing principles, strategies, tactics and trends. Demonstrates high proficiency in digital marketing channels with an emphasis on social media. Proven in-depth knowledge and mastery of social media best practices, including leveraging data to draw insights and drive decision-making. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others. Excellent strategic, management, and communication skills. Effective at driving top-to-top alignment with Marketing and business unit leaders. Demonstrated attention to detail and comfortable working in a fast-paced and shifting environment. Effective at managing budgets and allocating resources. Demonstrates ability to build trust and alignment across large cross-functional teams and leaders.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. May include occasional travel.
