We’re hiring a Contract Social Media Producer to engage and grow our audiences across social media platforms. Reporting to our Senior Social Media Producer, this role is responsible for ideating and creating social-first content, strategically packaging trending news stories for engagement, and bringing our lifestyle verticals (wellness, money, parenting) to life on Instagram and TikTok in both static and video formats.

What you’ll be doing

  • End-to-end production of static and video content for Instagram and TikTok, including ideation, writing, asset creation, and scheduling
  • Creating assets from existing templates in a timely, thoughtful manner in response to news and pop culture moments
  • Identifying unique opportunities to create social-first content based on on trending news particularly news that impacts women’s lives and celebrates their accomplishment
  • Producing, editing and delivering video assets for social using in-app editing tools
  • Embedding with our editorial vertical teams (wellness, money, parenting) to identify opportunities for social engagement
  • Analyzing performance metrics of social content and making recommendations for how to iterate based on the data

What would set you up for success

  • 2-4 years of social media experience at a media company or relevant consumer brand, with emphasis on Instagram and TikTok
  • Experience working in fast-paced production cycles
  • Excellent news judgment
  • Experience creating visual social assets from templates as well as producing video content for social
  • Strong sense of humor and ability to package social content with voice and POV
  • The creativity to ideate unique and novel formats that stand out in a crowded social media landscape
  • You understand theSkimm’s brand and voice and can communicate its message with consistency

What would set you apart

  • You are live and breathe news and pop culture
  • You keep up with the industry and can name the latest memes and TikTok trends
  • You are comfortable experimenting and are always thinking of creative ways to tell stories
  • You are data-driven and/or have experience growing digital audiences
  • You’re comfortable on camera with an engaging presence and ability to “talk for TikTok”
  • You have created social-first franchises (Instagram, TikTok and emerging platforms)
  • Familiarity with Figma, CrowdTangle, Instagram Insights, and Asana

This is a 6-month contract position with possibility for extension. This position has a weekly rate of $1,325/ week, with the assumption of working 40 hours a week.
