As a Social Media Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the agency’s social media subject matter expert.
- Cultivating VDOT’s voice on social media to increase positive sentiment.
- Administering analytics-driven social media tactics and strategies to meet business objectives.
- Developing, executing, tracking, and optimizing social media strategies (including paid social media advertising) to grow an audience, boost engagement, build a community, and increase web traffic.
- Working on digital design and creative content development.
- Keeping up-to-date on best practices and the latest trends in digital marketing.
- Demonstrating superior written and verbal communications skills.
- Managing communications project management and the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies and tactics.
- Interfacing with reporters on social media.
- Participating in 24/7 on-call emergency communications and responding to intermittent and unexpected issues that may occur during and result in work activity outside of standard work hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Highly creative with up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and the latest trends in digital marketing and social media.
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in strategic communications planning.
- Skills in effectively communicating with diverse groups and with the media, as well as news writing/editing and the use of AP style.
- Ability to write timely, creative, and engaging content tailored to target publics.
- Skill in organizing resources to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage multimedia projects.
- Basic design skills using platforms such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Familiarity with social media management tools.
- Experience in supervising and managing staff, programs, and budget.
Experience:
- Highly creative with a successful track record of social media management.
- Proven success in corporate communications, media relations, and the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies and tactics.
- Experience in digital design and creative content development.
- Familiarity with social media management tools.
- Up-to-date on best practices and the latest trends in digital marketing.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership track record.
- Experience supervising staff, programs, and budgets.
Additional Considerations:
