The Social Media Strategist will work in the Office of Marketing & Communications at Shady Side Academy (SSA) to develop and implement effective social media strategies, create compelling content, manage online communities, analyze performance metrics, and stay updated on social media trends. This role aims to enhance the academy’s online presence and foster meaningful connections with the target audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between marketing & communications leadership and various teams and creators to develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies aligned with the academy’s brand, goals, and audiences.
  • Create on-brand written, visual, and video content for social media.
  • Manage social media content schedules and feeds for multiple accounts and audiences.
  • Build strong relationships with departments, campuses, and internal/external influencers to ensure collaborative content development and consistent brand messaging.
  • Provide live coverage and real-time updates during important academy events on social media platforms.
  • Benchmark, monitor, and analyze social media performance using various tools.
  • Build and manage online communities, engage with followers, respond to comments, and handle inquiries or concerns.
  • Provide support with crisis communication strategies and handle social media crises effectively.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications/Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in social media.
  • Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software/tools for social media.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and shepherd projects from concept to completion.
  • Respect for different cultures and beliefs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in following social media trends and implementing social media campaigns.
  • Understanding of what makes content go viral and the importance of engaging hooks.
  • Exposure to inbound marketing methodologies.
  • Emotional intelligence, political savvy, and a sense of humor.

A portfolio should also be provided, including a link to a social media account currently overseen, at least four social media posts representing the applicant’s best work, and a social media strategy and/or social media ROI report created by the applicant.

Compensation:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Lunch is included when school is in session.
